Classic Uganda Safari - 7 days Gorilla, Chimps & wildlife Safari
This is a 7 day Uganda safari which starts and ends in Kampala. This safari will take you through three Ugandan national parks: Kibale Forest, a tropical rainforest with thirteen species of primate. This safari therefore gives you the chance to track the noisy chimpanzee families, enadgered mountain gorillas, go birding in the Bigodi Wetland, as well as game viewing tours in Queen Elizabeth.
DETAILED ITINERARY FOR THIS UGANDA SAFARI
Day 1 : Kampala - Kibale Chimpanzee Forest
Our safari guide will meet you and get you briefed about the safari. Drive to Fort Portal passing via Mityana-Mubende road. Have a stop over in Mubende to visit the Nakayima tree. Have picnic lunch en route and continue to Kibale forest national park. Arriving late afternoon, check in and relax at the lodge or explore the nearby crater lake. Dinner and Overnight at Ndali Lodge/Mantana Kibale/Forest Tree Campsite.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale Tropical Forest
Wake up earlier for chimpanzee tracking. The destination guide will guide you through tree identification, as well as in telling you the different features of the forest. After having Packed lunch, take an afternoon nature walk through the Bigodi swamp to see swamp birds, primates as well as some of the community Based projects financed by tourism. Dinner and Overnight at Ndali/Mantana Kibale.
Day 3: Queen Elizabeth National Park
Depart for queen Elizabeth national park located in the foothills of the Mountains of the moon, one of the great mountain ranges of the world. As you continue to the park you may see different animals and birds given that the park has got about 100 mammal species and a remarkable 606 bird species. Dinner and Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge/Jacana Lodge
Day 4: Chimpanzee Tracking Excursion in Kyambura
Take an early excursion to Kyambura gorge to track the fast moving and elusive chimpanzees. Though seeing these mobile chimpanzees is un predictable the walk is wonderful given the different features of the forest. Alternatively visit the Maramagambo Forest where you will see the bat cave, the blue lake and several primates. In the afternoon take a launch cruise on the Kazinga Channel. Kazinga. The channel is blessed with many hippos, solitary buffaloes, and a vast array of birds. Evening game drive in the park. Dinner and Overnight at Mweya safari Lodge /Jacana Lodge.
Day 5 Bwindi Impenetrable Gorilla Forest
Early Start for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, passing either via Ishasha, well known for the tree climbing lion, or through an alternative route passing through cultivated expanses. After lunch, go for a nature walk or a community visit. Dinner and Overnight at Buhoma.
Day 6: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Early breakfast, proceed to the forest for gorilla tracking. Encountering the largest and heaviest primates is an adventurous and memorable activity which can’t be easily erased on your mind. Tracking from Bwindi involves walking up steep densely forested hills; therefore some fitness may be required. After having packed lunch take a leisurely nature or community walk if time permits. Dinner and Overnight at Buhoma.
Day 7: Return Trip to Kampala
After breakfast return for Kampala having lunch enroute.
